ENTIRETY.... Would you like to make a difference in the life of an adult with a developmental disability? Looking to Hire DSP Staff to provide direct support services to an individual with Aggressive & Complex behavioral support needs living in an apartment setting. We are looking for people with Empathy, Integrity and Problem-Solving Skills to be Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Under direction from the Program Supervisor, the Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides Enhanced Supported Living Services (ESLS), to adults with developmental disabilities with complex care needs who live in their own homes. DSPs provide direct one-to-one support in their client's homes or out in the community. DSPs must be trusted to work independently and work well with others when the individual supported requires more support. Enhanced Supported Living Services (ESLS), serves individuals who have been assessed to need a higher level of support services based on a Regional Center Comprehensive Assessment; and have documented challenges which may include but are not limited to: Intense behaviors, including severe aggression and propensity for significant property damage. Forensic involvement requiring enhanced supervision, i.e., charges related to sexual acts, gang affiliation, robbery, or other violence. Co-occurring mental health diagnoses that make service delivery challenging. Substance abuse resulting in a need for an enhanced level of support and supervision. Unsuccessful in other living arrangements due to disruptive behaviors or forensic involvement. We are looking for team members who are mission driven and who are passionate about supporting adults with developmental disabilities with complex needs. We are looking for people who enjoy working with people with developmental disabilities and who are interested in finding creative solutions to behavioral challenges. Candidate's availability and flexibility to work when needed is a plus.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct support and supervision to clients who may have complex service needs. Provide supported living services to clients who live in their own homes. Support clients with Service Plan which may include: shopping, budgeting, safety awareness, community access, positive relationship building, physical fitness, positive recreation, conflict resolution, anger management, coping skills, resisting peer pressure and maintaining a clean and healthy home environment. Provide positive behavioral support. Address basic care needs of clients including but not limited to the following: medical, nutritional, hygienic, activities of daily living (ADL's), social, recreational, personal management, transportation, meal preparations, etc. personal hygiene needs may require exposure to bodily fluids (feces, urine, blood etc.). Basic household needs including but not limited to the following: custodial, maintenance, schedules and routines, record keeping, documentation, etc. Responsibility for the health and safety of individual supported. Maintain client confidentiality. Follow reporting procedures regarding denial of rights and special incident reports. Communicate with other program staff regarding any changes in regulations, policies and procedures and general information pertaining to the program. Assist client with coordination of medical services, nutrition, personal hygienic and meal preparations. Coordination of client's personal hygiene needs may require exposure to bodily fluids (feces, urine, blood etc.). Assist client with household management needs including but not limited to the following: regular upkeep and maintenance, paying bills, developing schedules and routines, record keeping, and documentation. Monitor client progress towards Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectives by maintaining and submitting weekly progress notes. Facilitate the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in the recreation, volunteer, and employments sites of their choosing. Create and use natural supports and support client in a person-centered manner. Teach community awareness to clients while they access their community via public transportation and travel training. Promote full engagement of each client in each activity. Recognize unusual or threatening conditions related to persons with disabilities and resolve issues if necessary. Attend required training and staff meetings. Adhere to and all Omelagah, Inc. policies, procedures and program compliance guideline. Other duties as assigned.Job Qualification:
Experience Requirement:
1-year experience working in a professional capacity with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferably with individuals. with behavioral needs.Training Requirements:
All training completed upon hire Able to communicate in the individual's preferred language Criminal Record clearance First Aid/CPR Certified Strong time management skills, patient and detailed oriented. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in decision-making situations. Excellent oral communication skills; and fluent report writing skills Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients, parents, social workers, fellow workers, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
