Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Eastern Oregon University (EOU) invites applications for the position of Director of Admissions. Located in the scenic Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon, EOU is committed to student success, access, innovation, and community engagement. The Director of Admissions provides strategic leadership for undergraduate recruitment and admissions operations while helping shape the future of enrollment growth and student engagement at the university. The Director of Admissions leads the university's undergraduate recruitment and admissions efforts for first-year and transfer students, including domestic and international populations. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategic enrollment initiatives designed to convert prospective students into applicants and admitted students into enrolled Mountaineers. Reporting to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions oversees recruitment strategy, admissions communications, staff supervision, enrollment forecasting, and relationship management in support of institutional enrollment goals. Responsibilities Provide leadership and oversight for undergraduate recruitment and admissions initiatives.
Develop and implement strategic enrollment and recruitment plans aligned with university goals.
Supervise and mentor admissions staff, including training, performance management, and professional development.
Collaborate with University Advancement on admissions marketing and communication strategies.
Analyze enrollment and recruitment data to support informed decision-making and forecasting.
Represent Eastern Oregon University at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, community events, and professional organizations.
Coordinate communications with prospective students and families through multiple channels including email, phone, print, and digital outreach.
Manage admissions processes and ensure effective operational standards throughout the recruitment funnel.
Support efforts to recruit and enroll a socio-economically diverse and multicultural student body.
Collaborate with campus partners including Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Affairs, Information Technology, and Academic Affairs to support enrollment initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Three to five (3-5) years of progressive management experience in a fast-paced professional environment, including experience managing complex programs, strategic planning, budgeting, project management, staff supervision, and achieving organizational goals.
Two (2) years of demonstrated experience with strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and public presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate and work with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
One (1) year of experience directly related to Student Services; any combination of relevant education and experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
One (1) year of experience with computing systems and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, CRM systems, Enrollment Planning Service (EPS), and familiarity with Ellucian Banner.
Experience working in education or with high school, community college, and non-traditional student populations.
Knowledge of undergraduate admissions, financial aid, transfer programs, student services, recruitment cycles, and university policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, manage multiple priorities concurrently, exercise independent judgment, and provide excellent customer service.
Valid United States driver's license and ability to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends, in varying weather conditions. Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
