The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for the organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the Respiratory Care AAS degree program. The successful candidate will also serve as a full-time, tenure-track, faculty member. SUNY Sullivan faculty have the primary responsibilities of teaching and assessing student learning. They are also expected to participate in other important activities including: academic advising, curriculum development, and shared governance.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or a related field (Master's degree or Doctorate preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with an associate degree considering or actively working towards the completion of their Bachelor's degree will also be considered. Bachelor's degree must be completed within two years of hire. State Licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (New York State Respiratory License required within 90 days of hire). Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care. Minimum of four (4) years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which at least two (2) years should have been spent in clinical Respiratory Care. Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a faculty member, clinical instructor, and/or preceptor for an accredited Respiratory Care program. Excellent written verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Computer proficiency and familiarity with instructional technology. Demonstrated professionalism, positive work ethic, and positive attitude which reflect both integrity and empathy in working with students. Able to pass medical clearance and background check required by affiliation facilities. Demonstrated capacity to engage in productive collaborative work with a diverse group of colleagues with varying backgrounds. Complete CoArc Key Personnel Training within 1 year of hire or meet CoArc approved background requirements. Meet all current and ongoing standards as member of Key Program Personnel as outlined by CoArc.Duties and Responsibilities:
Arrange and negotiate all site contracts for clinical placement of students. Schedule and supervise all off-campus clinical courses, placements, and adjuncts. Assess student learning outcomes in all clinical courses on a regular basis. Work with the Program Director, the program's Advisory Committee, and Medical Director to assure the professional integrity and relevance of clinical courses within the curriculum. Conducts regular site visits to clinical affiliates. Teach courses in the program. Assist with program curriculum development and revisions. Advise Respiratory Care students. Documented allocated time for handling role administrative responsibilities. Other appropriate activities as assigned by the Program Director or Assistant Vice President of Student and Academic Affairs.Salary:
Salary is determined by a candidate's rank at SUNY Sullivan, based on teaching experience, education, etc. The full starting salary range, inclusive of a Directorship stipend, is between $44,500.00 to $74,500.00.
