Job Description

Job Summary The Director of Food and Beverage is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of food and beverage operations within Virginia International Raceway, including management of an on-site restaurant(s) and all event catering operations. This position requires a dynamic individual with a passion for culinary excellence and exceptional service standards. The ideal candidate will lead a team to deliver outstanding dining experiences, manage kitchen operations, and ensure that all food and beverage offerings align with the brand's vision and quality expectations. Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite leadership for the daily operations of all food and beverage outlets, ensuring high standards of service and quality.
  • Supervise kitchen management, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain consistency in culinary offerings.
  • Manage regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with Department of Health, Virginia ABC regulations and cleanliness standards.
  • Develop and implement menus that reflect current trends while meeting guest preferences and dietary needs.
  • Collaborate with sales and event teams to develop customized catering menus and packages.
  • Ensure smooth execution of large-scale hospitality and corporate events.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise staff across all levels, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork.
  • Subject matter expert on POS system for efficient order processing, inventory management and reporting.
  • Monitor inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to ensure seamless operation without excess waste.
  • Conduct regular inspections of food preparation areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with the VIR marketing teams to promote food and beverage events or specials that enhance guest engagement.
  • Act as a liaison to the VIR leadership team and attend VIR weekly team meetings, calls with track renters and group sales prospects, and other meetings as needed. Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the food and beverage industry, preferably in restaurant and catering applications.
  • Knowledge of catering sales initiatives, driving revenue through corporate hospitality, and group events.
  • Strong supervisory skills with a focus on team development and shift management.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary practices, food preparation techniques, and kitchen management principles.
  • Familiarity with bartending practices and beverage service standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests and staff at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences through innovative menu design and service excellence.
