POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Quality is responsible for leading quality initiatives across all manufacturing operations to ensure that products meet internal standards and regulatory requirements. This role bridges the gap between production and quality, driving continuous improvement, ensuring compliance, and fostering a culture of operational excellence. The position oversees the implementation of quality systems, audits, process controls, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure best-in-class manufacturing quality performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Oversees quality assurance and control functions across all manufacturing facilities. Develops and implements operational quality strategies aligned with business objectives. Ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IATF and ISO). Collaborates with production, engineering, and other teams to integrate quality into design and manufacturing processes. Monitors, provides feedback, and assists Toledo Tool and Die divisions with action plans to improve quality performance. Performs product and/or process audits. Audit divisions for compliance to standards, quality requirements and customer expectations Train divisions on customer systems (e.g. Tesla, Ford, GM, Chrysler and others) Ensure TTD divisions are fairly represented in quality or warranty issues as required Manage Liaison activity to ensure all agreements are in place and provide feedback from actions Develop suppliers, implement quality systems, IATF, and/or specific systems for divisional needs Leads root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions related to product quality issues. Establish and track quality metrics (e.g., yield, defect rates, customer complaints) to drive performance improvements. Manage and develop a team of quality professionals across sites, fostering accountability and continuous learning. Oversee audits (internal, customer, and regulatory) and ensure timely closure of findings. Implement best practices for inspection, testing, and validation protocols across manufacturing facilities. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product and process quality. Assist the IT department in problem resolution for user requests (OEM websites, etc.) Partner with leadership to align quality goals with broader business objectives.
Requirements:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field and 8 years of experience in manufacturing and quality roles OR in lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in manufacturing and quality roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems (QMS), and regulatory requirements. Experience leading cross-functional teams in high-volume, regulated manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, GD&T and SPC. Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
