Job Description
Position Summary:
Manages all operations of the Assisted Living department, including staffing, training and development; continual evaluation of admittance criteria and resident assessments; determination of appropriate acceptance/release of residents; management of departmental budgets; and responsibility for quality of services provided to residents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Supervision Trains, supervises, disciplines and terminates, as necessary and appropriate Reviews and approved employee schedules Ensure staffing requirements are maintained as determined by the departmental budget Prepares employee performance appraisals and recommends salary adjustments Reviews and ensures that all caregiving staff maintains their training as required by the State of California, Participates in weekend and holiday Manager on Duty program Coordinates with Assistant Director of Resident Care to complete interviews for meeting the Assisted Living staffing needs Works with other department managers in coordinating quality products and services provided by those departments Resident Care Executes physician orders to maintain the highest level of healthcare possible for each resident Visits residents who are sent to hospitals and/or skilled nursing facilities to ensure proper follow up and transition resident back to community Provides emergency services for residents as needed Completed on-going health assessment to determine care level needs and appropriateness of placement Schedules and completes resident care conferences as requested by residents and/or family members or needed by departmental staff Manages all aspects of departmental services and functions to ensure quality services, and resident and family satisfaction Maintain relationships with residents, family members and responsible parties Reviews completed medical history and physical examination forms, and meets with prospective residents, family members and responsible parties to assess and clarify admittance criteria services and functions of the Assisted Living program Compliance Coordinates monthly in-service training programs and meetings for facility staff to better educate and understand the needs and desires of residents, and to ensure compliance with State regulations Department of Social Services Prepares for annual State survey and complies with all current regulations as designed by Federal, State and local authorities Maintain documentation that accurately and completely records data pertaining to individual resident care, condition and treatment Makes determination as to whether the applicants meet and maintains admittance criteria Administrative Develop policies and procedures, and establish the daily routine within the department Supervises medication management program, ensuring MedTech's and caregivers are properly trained to assist residents with their daily medication needs Maintains financial and operational reports for the Assisted Living department Attends scheduled staff meetings for management staff Determines supplies and equipment needed to provide for the department and within budgetary guidelinesMinimum Qualifications Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program, with an RN or LVN licenseExperience:
Minimum of two years' experience in the capacity of Director of Nursing in a California Assisted Living and Dementia/Alzheimer's disease communityLicenses/Certifications:
RN or LVN license; Current and valid State of California licensure. Valid CPR certification Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to lead, direct and work well with others Knowledge of State of California requirements set forth in Title 22 Knowledge and understanding of Gerontology, Dementia and Alzheimer's disease Enjoy working with seniors Excellent time management and organizational skills Knowledge and ability to oversee medication program Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including ability to send emails, generate letters and other correspondence, work with spreadsheets; Also, be able to use other various office machinery including a fax and copy machine Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to respond to each resident with empathy and respect Ability to communicate in English clearly and affectively, both orally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other departments, resident and their family members, doctors and other outside professionals that provide service to the residents Ability to respond effectively in an emergency or crisis situationJob Type:
