1. R.N. credentials, with PEL preferred. 2. Technology skills sufficient for entering data into ISBE forms and district student management programs. 3. Tactful and pleasant in dealing with staff, students, and community. 4. Collaborative with other secretarial staff in gathering and input of data
REPORTS TO
Superintendent and Building Principals
JOB GOAL
To assist in providing the most inclusive and comprehensive educational opportunities for each student by minimizing absences due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the district schools.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Professionalism
  • Maintain a pleasant and courteous atmosphere in the schools in dealing with the public, employees, and students.
  • Appropriately answer daily questions from students, parents and staff as they arise.
  • Handles all confidential information with proper discretion.
  • Supports and implements the goals of the Board of Education.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal. Communication
  • Responds appropriately to requests for information.
  • Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters, as needed and as directed by the principal.
  • Makes recommendations to the principal on the health needs of individual students.
  • Conducts necessary staff trainings on health-related topics, i.e., blood-borne pathogens, concussions, diabetic care, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal. School Health-related Management
  • Assists administrators in developing school health programs which include: dispensing of medication on a daily schedule; counseling of students and parents on students' health needs/concerns; and conducting health-related communications.
  • Provide IEP medical review for student IEP determination, including a student's Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance, Educational evaluation, and Instructional judgment.
  • Collaborates on the development and implementation of the district's Wellness Policy.
  • Serves as a member of the district's Concussion Management Team.
  • Conducts or arranges for the school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students within the student management program.
  • Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.
  • Administers first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
  • Implements Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases and State-required immunization and physical examination requirements.
  • Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in the schools.
  • Assists in the management of emergency situations; contacts and notifies proper personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Principal.
Terms of Employment :
Nine-months/180 days, as determined by the Superintendent and Building Principal. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education on an annual basis.
Salary/Benefits :
$30 per hour, with future increases to be determined by the Board of Education on an annual basis. District-paid IMRF. $650 paid toward health insurance coverage. 10 Sick Days and 2 Personal Days.
Evaluation :
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent and Principals.

From $30.00 per hour
