Job Description

The Public Schools of Brookline seek a half-time, Educational Audiologist to support the access needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Educational Audiologist works closely with general educators, special education staff, related service providers, administrators, and families to promote academic success and full participation in school activities. This role involves consultation across preschool, K-8, and high school learning environments. Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of the educational impact of hearing loss, the ability to interpret audiological data in educational terms, and familiarity with assistive listening technology and classroom acoustics. Duties include but are not limited to: Interpreting clinical audiological reports and translating findings into educational recommendations Participating in IEP and Section 504 Student Accommodation Plan meetings to develop necessary accommodations for student access Ordering (as needed), troubleshooting and maintaining hearing assistive technology, including hearing aids, cochlear implants (in collaboration with medical providers), and FM/DM systems Conducting classroom/student observations including acoustic evaluations and recommending environmental modifications. Providing annual/as-needed trainings for staff and students on the use and care of hearing technology, student's hearing profile, and classroom accommodations Providing consultation to teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, and administrators on accommodations and use of hearing equipment Collaborating with the Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support student goals Communicating with families regarding hearing technology, auditory access, and educational impact Qualifications Doctorate (Au.

D. or Ph.D.) or Master's degree in Audiology MA State licensure in Audiology ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-A) Experience working with school-aged children Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and special education procedures. Strong communication and collaboration skills This role will require travel between school sites, and the occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 pounds.
