Overview Join our dynamic pet care team as a Dog Grooming Assistant, where your enthusiasm and passion for animals will help create a positive and comfortable grooming experience for every furry client. In this energetic role, you will support professional groomers by preparing dogs for grooming sessions, assisting with handling and restraint, and ensuring a safe environment for pets and staff alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your animal handling skills while contributing to the well-being and happiness of beloved pets. Duties Assist groomers with preparing dogs for grooming by brushing, bathing, and drying pets as needed Safely handle and restrain dogs during grooming procedures to ensure their comfort and safety Support with pet care tasks such as feeding, walking, and monitoring behavior before and after grooming sessions Maintain cleanliness of grooming stations, tools, and work areas to uphold hygiene standards Help with pet sitting or kennel duties to ensure animals are well cared for during their visit Support with basic dog training techniques to help improve behavior and cooperation during grooming Heavy lifting of pet supplies, equipment, or animals when necessary to assist the team efficiently Skills Strong animal handling skills with experience in dog restraint and pet care Knowledge of dog training principles and veterinary experience is a plus Previous veterinary technician or assistant experience enhances your ability to understand animal health needs Familiarity with pet grooming techniques and equipment operation Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining a lively, energetic attitude Animal care background including kennel experience or pet sitting helps provide compassionate support in all tasks This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their skills in animal handling, grooming, and veterinary-related fields.
