About This Position:
The DOTD Enforcement Corporal position is part of the Weight Enforcement Unit within the Department of Transportation and Development Police. This unit is responsible for enforcing federal and state laws related to vehicle size, weight, permits, registration, and taxation. It operates fixed scale facilities and perimeter enforcement to protect roadway infrastructure and ensure highway safety. While in official capacity, DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Services laws, rules and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver's license. Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification. An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found
Duties:
Maintains full compliance with agency policies, procedures, and directives while exercising sound judgment in enforcing laws, coordinating with supervisors, and supporting overall unit operations. Enforces state and federal laws related to vehicle size, weight, permits, registration, and taxation to ensure compliance and protect roadway infrastructure. Performs advanced law enforcement duties including patrol, investigations, arrests, evidence collection, and evidence preservation. Provides senior-level training, mentorship, and functional supervision of junior agents and cadets, including field or regional instruction and specialized operational support. Ensures accurate completion of required reports and administrative documentation, maintains equipment and records, and supports enforcement operations in compliance with DOTD policies and procedures.
