We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and detail-oriented Dry Kiln Operator to join our team at a hardwood lumber concentration yard in central Indiana. This position is responsible for operating and monitoring dry kilns to ensure lumber is dried efficiently, safely, and to required specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor dry kiln systems used to dry hardwood lumber Load and unload kilns using forklifts or other material handling equipment Track moisture content and adjust kiln settings to meet drying schedules and quality standards Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on kiln equipment Maintain accurate records of kiln charges, temperatures, humidity levels, and drying times Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies Coordinate with yard and production staff to prioritize workflow and meet production goals

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in lumber drying, sawmill operations, or industrial equipment operation required Basic mechanical and troubleshooting skills Ability to read gauges, charts, and drying schedules Forklift certification or demonstrated experience required Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoor/industrial conditions Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking for extended periods

Work Schedule:

Full-time position Typical hours: 6:00 am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday, with overtime potential
