This position will report to the Alabama EMS Region One Director while also serving as American Heart Association (AHA) Training Faculty (TF) for assigned Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) disciplines. The position plays a critical role in maintaining AERO and AHA standards, serving as both an academic coordinator and an advanced instructional leader within the AHA Training Center and AERO program.

Work Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.; Friday 7:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet to be considered. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide administrative support to AERO and AHA programs by coordinating documentation, timelines, and required reports in accordance with institutional and external guidelines. Maintain awareness of applicable program requirements and assist directors with the organization and preparation of reports, records, and supporting materials. Assist the Alabama Office of EMS, Alabama EMS Region One, and all participants and stakeholders in the development, coordination, and monitoring of continuing education activities in AERO's service area. Serve as an advocate and subject matter expert for continuing education needs in Alabama EMS Region One, acting as a point of contact for questions and concerns. Assist the AERO director with the development and coordination of the AERO Annual Training Schedule. Collect, maintain, and submit accurate training records, including feedback and outcome reports for courses approved and conducted by the AERO office. Assist with the collection of data and records in conjunction with the Alabama State Office of EMS. Work in partnership with other acute health systems positions and AERO staff to promote excellent patient care and knowledge & adherence to related policies and procedures. Prepare and facilitate training regarding continuing education activities within the AERO service area. Ensure regional continuing courses are conducted & properly documented for each facility participating in the AERO region, ensuring functionality of equipment and staff understanding of

procedures and best practices. Support regional office operations by participating in promotion and training regarding primary and continuing education involving both EMS agencies and hospital facilities. Act as a liaison between local entities and the AERO office regarding education updates, potential issues, and questions. Participate in QA/QI activities as needed by promptly responding to reports from stakeholders, gathering & compiling accurate documentation, and working to identify solutions and areas for improvement and training with an overall goal of improving patient care within Region One. Participate in AERO meetings and trainings, as needed. Coordinate the AERO Annual Training Schedule with AERO trainers and guest speakers. Assess provider understanding of acute health system use and other emerging EMS issues to identify gaps in knowledge to develop appropriate continuing education courses and training. Analyze and interpret data relative to primary and continuing education courses and provide feedback for the purpose of improving and expanding appropriate utilization of course offerings. Promote positive and productive relationships with service area agencies, clinical facilities, initial education programs, and the State Office of EMS, serving as an approachable and solutions-based representative of Region One. Serve as AHA Training Faculty (TF) in assigned ECC disciplines as designated by the Training Center Coordinator (TCC). Conduct initial monitoring of instructor candidates and required renewal monitoring of current instructors, completing all required AHA documentation. Teach AHA Instructor Essentials courses and facilitate instructor updates in accordance with AHA policies. Provide mentoring, coaching, and constructive feedback to instructors to improve teaching effectiveness and course quality. Ensure instructors are current with AHA Science Updates, Training Bulletins, Training Memos, ECC Beat communications, and policy updates. Support the Training Center's ability to conduct high-quality Instructor Essentials courses, instructor monitoring, and instructor updates. Act as a quality assurance resource and change agent to address instructional issues and improve resuscitation education outcomes. Maintain accurate instructor files, monitoring records, and course documentation in the AHA Atlas system. Assist with procurement, compilation, organization, and analysis of data and supporting materials for assessment, accreditation, and reporting. Utilize technology and database systems (such as Banner, ARGOS, Excel, and AHA Atlas) to manage, analyze, and report information. Ensure TC policies and practices align with AHA Program Administration Manual (PAM) requirements and do not contradict AHA guidelines. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive institutional, accreditation, instructor, and student information. Perform duties with professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail. Perform related work as assigned. Qualifications A minimum of a Certificate in EMT at the Paramedic Level from an accredited Institution is required . A minimum of three years pre-hospital care experience as a Paramedic is required. Certification as a Paramedic, licensed in the State of Alabama or subject to a reciprocity agreement with the State of Alabama is required . Unencumbered approval from the Alabama State Office of EMS to act as an extension of the OEMS and independently teach and supervise continuing education courses at the paramedic level is required. Current AHA Instructor card in the discipline(s) served is required . Experience with AHA course instruction is required . Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments: Knowledge of higher education, accreditation standards, and AHA ECC guidelines and policies. Strong instructional, communication, coaching, and mentoring skills. Ability to interpret and apply accreditation standards, institutional policies, and AHA requirements. Skill in preparing detailed reports, correspondence, and compliance documentation. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and instructional technology. Ability to maintain records and documentation in electronic systems. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Strong attention to detail, initiative, and commitment to quality improvement.
