An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Description

SUMMARY Provides testing administration and/or proctoring during administration of District GATE tests.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
One year working with children in an educational setting to include classroom management experience. Basic computer and word processing skills. Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card (at employee's expense). Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Certified teaching experience. Experience working with K-8 classroom settings. Experience with test facilitation and proctoring. Arizona Teaching Certificate Bilingual

2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR This is a seasonal position throughout the school year. (Hours will vary). Hours may vary depending on GATE department schedule Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits. Testing is seasonal throughout the school year. Hours will vary depending on the testing schedule.
