The assignment is expected to span 32-34 weeks throughout the year, with an average workload of 8-10 hours per week.
This is a temporary position, limited to a maximum of 165 working days within a fiscal year. This position is not eligible for medical, dental, or vision benefits through the District. Holidays and vacations are unpaid. Sick leave is accrued in accordance with applicable law. Responsibilities

N/A At Ohlone College, the rapidly growing ESL program is supported by an Onboarding and Outreach staff position. This includes managing student intake, conducting community outreach to immigrant populations, and providing ongoing support to ensure student retention and success.The assignment is expected to span 32-34 weeks throughout the year, with an average workload of 8-10 hours per week.

- Guide students from initial contact through the registration process, including:
- Sending form email to new placements with next steps and encourage students to register for orientation
- Monitor the mailto:
- Provide information to prospective students about first steps in applying to the college
- Provide administrative support for orientation sessions including:
- Encouraging all placements and inquiries to attend / register
- Confirming with registered students before the event and contacting students for follow-up after the event
- Direct students to appropriate support at orientation (i.e., peer mentors for application assistance, A&R, counseling, faculty) and work with faculty toward the goal that all students at the event are registered for classes by start of semester
- Assist students through CAR (Counseling, Admissions and Registration) sessions
- Troubleshoot as needed with student applications including
- Help students identify and clarify issues in conjunction with A&R i.

//id.me problems and direct students to most appropriate school support staff for next steps- Help ESL instructors troubleshoot student registration issues after the start of the semester
- Support current students to increase throughput:
- Collaborate with ESL faculty or student volunteers to provide reminders about registration dates, updates about class schedules, and help to increase students continuing onto the next ESL class via providing timely information
- Coordinate with instructors and student volunteers to schedule visits to all ESL classes
- Provide warm handoff to current ESL students needing to access school resources and support - tutoring, counseling, basic needs, etc.
- Serve as a point of contact for ESL students for non-instructional questions
- Support outreach:
- Print and distribute marketing materials for further distribution
- Distribute information and flyers about mailto:
- Communications and marketing
- Monitor website and work with faculty/webmaster to ensure dates for registration, class schedules, and orientation are current
- Spread information about mailto:
- Attend outreach events and tabling events to provide more information about mailto:
- Distribute marketing materials on community bulletin boards Qualifications and Knowledge
- Collaborative and team-focused, highly skilled in building relationships and refining processes
- Highly organized, persistent and passionate about guiding students from initial contact to final registration
- Familiarity with the application process for the California Community College system and noncredit registration procedures
- Familiarity with Ohlone College ESL Program Minimum Qualifications The position is open to anyone who has experience with noncredit instruction at Ohlone College, or at another California Community College, and experience working collegially with faculty and staff in support of student success.
