What they do
An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist students with developing career plans and postsecondary goals. Support students with course scheduling, academic planning, and program completion. Connect students with appropriate school, community, employment, and social service resources. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, career services staff, and community partners to support student success. Assist with student orientation and transition planning. Maintain accurate and confidential student records. Participate in required professional development and comply with applicable regulations and district policies. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Appropriate school counseling credentials/licensure as required. Experience working with adolescents and/or adults in an educational setting preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying educational and personal needs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other commonly used educational technology.Qualifications:
Successful candidate(s) will be licensed in secondary math; special education certification is desired. Position is available on Monday and Wednesday, 5:30-9:00 p.m. in Woodside. Offer of employment is conditional upon favorable professional references, negative TB test, and favorable criminal background check. Starting rate of pay is $35/hour.Pay:
