An Adult Basic Education or Literacy Instructor works with adults, including young adults who are out of school, to improve literacy and strengthen basic skills in reading, writing and math. Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. Assesses students' educational levels, skills and goals, and differentiates instruction as needed for adults at different levels in one class. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
High school Diploma or GED Experience working with children or community service Knowledge of traffic signs, hazards, and safety precautions Ability to effectively communicate basic traffic instructions Ability to see and hear cars and children at major crossings Ability to lift and hold "STOP" sign above head Ability to maintain adequate attendance Ability to maintain a working relationship with children school officials, and the general public Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation Must have reliable transportation
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Escort children across designated school crossing zones Assures the safety of children and motorist, communicates effectively with children, parents and the general public Report vehicles that fail to slow down to the proper authorities Report unsafe traffic conditions in school crossing zones and suspicious vehicles or persons noticed hanging around school area Communicates safety instructions and directions to students, parents, and motorist traveling through the school safety zone Correctly fill out routine forms Conducts other duties as assigned by Management Job Description
