This is a part-time, temporary, non-unit professional without benefits, not to exceed 18.5 hours per week.SALARY:
$36.55/hrSTATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Assessment Assistant will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Testing Center. They will be responsible for, but not limited to, proctoring standardized exams, reviewing data and documents for completeness and accuracy; maintaining, checking, and responding to student and community inquiries by phone, in-person, and e-mail; generating routine proctoring various exams. They collaborate with key areas across the college including Information Technology Services, Office of Accessibility Services, College Access, Adult Education, and English as a Second Language.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain working knowledge of all departments located within the SSEM Division (i.e. Admissions, ADS, College Access, and Enrollment Center); participate in ongoing cross training as needed to remain current on all policies and procedures. Maintain working knowledge of state and internal testing policies. Maintain various professional certifications and an understanding of the policies and regulations for all exams; stay up-to-date on new technologies specific to test vendor regulations. Administer standardized exams, such as, but not limited to: College Board Accuplacer, CLEP (College Level Examination Program), Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS), and high school equivalency test (HiSET). Maintain professional certifications and an understanding of the policies and regulations for all exams; stay up-to-date on technologies specific to test vendor regulations. Utilize software such as, but not limited to, Slate, Banner, Argos, RegisterBlast, Microsoft Office Suite/Office365 and related systems to carry out responsibilities. Process and issue exam vouchers for remote Accuplacer exams. Focus on customer service best practices while communicating general information both verbally and through routine correspondence to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Provide basic information to English as a Second Language population testing inquiries. As necessary, make referrals to the ESL Coordinator and/or Adult Education ESOL program. Understand FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974) regulations in order to explain this regulation, as needed, to students, parents, faculty, and staff. Responsible for the review of incoming Credit for Prior learning documents, College Transcripts, & High School transcripts and assign testing waivers where appropriate Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions. Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or closely related field; with one (1) year experience and/or training involving computerized test administration, computer program manipulation, or computer operations in an academic environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to speak a language other than English. Experience in a higher education environment. Direct experience with proctoring standardized exams. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Familiarity with student information systems, such as Banner and /or Slate.Additional Information:
