This educator will design dynamic instruction, in line with the needs of adult learners, to provide student-centered lessons in order to prepare the students to obtain their High School Equivalency Certificate (HiSet/GED). Face-to-face instruction as well as online instruction is available to our students, and therefore candidates should be able to work with both modalities if necessary. All instructors will create multi-week unit plans with prepared student objectives and timed agendas following the College and Career Readiness (CCR) Standards for Adult Learners and best practices for instruction. The program seeks to guide learners in identifying career goals and in developing college and career readiness skills in relation to their goals, leading to employment or placement in job training or post-secondary educational programs. The Instructor will create an environment that supports students in their pursuit of academics with level appropriate activities, projects, and assessments. Student engagement and retention are vital to meeting student goals. The instructor works closely with the advisors to provide student support.RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides high quality instruction focused on increasing knowledge and skills toward the attainment of a High School Equivalency (HSE) credential or General Educational Development (GED)diploma. Works with Career Advisors to guide learners in identifying career goals and developing work readiness skills in relation to the goals including providing information about careers, career pathways, employment opportunities, contextualized instruction, and understanding educational programs, job training, or employment opportunities related to their interests. Prepares and delivers thematic units and associated lesson plans in alignment with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRSAE) using a contextualized and integrated curriculum incorporating Social Studies and Science content as appropriate. Shares learning materials and resources (i.e. videos, models, labs, class websites, links, games, projects, etc.) with students via the assigned Learning Management System. Works closely with Educational and Career Advisor and other program staff to develop and maintain student assessment schedules in order to meet program goals and fulfill funding requirements. Assesses ABE students using summative and formative assessments based on instructional needs, as well as MAPT assessments. Participates in program planning, curriculum development, and continuous improvement activities and other required tasks as needed. Participates in professional development, staff meetings, program events, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Delivers instruction using in-person and/or online modalities, including effective use of technology and the assigned Learning Management System (LMS). Maintain accurate records related to instruction, assessment, attendance, and student progress in accordance with program and funding requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree. Ability to teach effectively in person and/or online. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills in English. Proficiency with instructional technology and digital tools. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Commitment to learner-centered instruction, lifelong learning, and continuous professional development. Belief in the ability of all students to learn and willingness to meet diverse learner needs. Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and the ability to clearly explain and scaffold concepts for adult learners.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with diverse populations. Training or experience with MAPT and/or other standardized placement assessments. Knowledge of and experience with DESE-funded Adult Community Learning Services (ACLS) programs. Proficiency in Spanish and/or other languages. Experience using Google Workspace and Zoom.
