Job Description

The Adult Education Program is seeking for a Part-Time Evening GED/HiSET Math and Science Teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
a. Minimum of Bachelors degree in Education or related field required; Masters degree preferredb. 3 5 years Adult Basic Education Math teaching experience preferredc. Experience working with a diverse adult population (16+ yrs old) with complex socio-economic needsd. Able to demonstrate experience with effective lesson planning, scaffolding, differentiated instruction, formative assessment andstudent engagemente. Proficient in use of Google Suite with strong technological aptitude
POSITION SUMMARY
The GED/HiSET Math & Science Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction to adult learners preparing for the GED and/or HiSET examination at the Grade Level Equivalency 910 level. Instruction is delivered in a hyflex model, with students participating simultaneously in person and remotely. The teacher is expected to create anengaging, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment that develops mathematical reasoning, scientific literacy, digital skills, and college and career readiness. Teachers will accomplish this by evaluating student progress, adjusting instruction when necessary, and drawing upon professional knowledge, research and standards to respond to the needs of students within their classroom. Teachers will work together with the Assistant Director of Curriculum and Instruction and advisors to optimizestudent progress towards academic goals.
