Full Job Description Description:
Do you believe learning can change lives? Do you enjoy connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and helping them grow with confidence? We're looking for volunteers who bring positive energy, cultural openness, and a commitment to creating a safe, welcoming, and enriching learning environment. We are seeking dedicated adult volunteers (18+) to teach or support English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for migrant and refugee adults. No prior teaching experience is required —we provide training and materials. By volunteering, you directly support adults who are building new lives in our community. Strengthening their English skills opens doors to employment, education, and deeper connection with their new home.
Schedule Options:
Monday evenings (in person): 5:30-8:30 PM, Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, 65 Boys & Girls Club Way, Worcester. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (virtual): 6:00-8:00 PM Volunteers may choose one or more evenings to serve, but a consistent weekly schedule is essential. Role Responsibilities Teach or co-teach beginner or intermediate ESL lessons Support adult learners with reading, writing, speaking, and listening practice Provide patient, culturally responsive guidance Collaborate with staff and fellow volunteers to maintain a welcoming learning environment Strong communication skills and comfort working with adult learners Ability to commit to a regular weekly schedule (one or more evenings) For virtual volunteers: reliably join online sessions and engage learners through digital platforms

Requirements:
You must be at least 18 years old. As part of our commitment to safety, a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and national background check will be conducted, which includes a review of the sex offender registry and verification of social security number.
