Part-Time About DHDC :
Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation (DHDC) is a community-based nonprofit rooted in the rich culture of Southwest Detroit. DHDC creates individual and community change through culturally responsive programs that support youth, adults, and families in education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, housing and financial counseling, youth development, violence prevention, and community advocacy. This position supports DHDC's adult education services and is funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which helps eligible adults strengthen foundational skills, continue their education, and prepare for employment and career success.
Position Summary :
We are seeking a compassionate, highly organized, and reliable Student Support Specialist to join our adult education team. This role is dedicated exclusively to the student journey, ensuring adult learners have the guidance and encouragement they need from onboarding through academic success. As adult learners face unique challenges of balancing families, employment, and education, this position requires a deeply empathetic individual who understands their specific needs. This is a part-time, grant-funded position averaging 12 hours per week across 44 weeks per year, aligned with the academic calendar. Continued employment and total scheduled hours are contingent upon the availability of grant funding. While the position is currently established at 12 hours weekly, the organization actively pursues additional funding opportunities to support increased hours
