ADULT EDUCATION ESL EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT CENTRAL COMMONS REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this position, you must be Highly Qualified as required by federal ESSA legislation. To be considered Highly Qualified, the successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years (60 credit hours) at a State approved college, or an Associate Degree, or a passing score on the ETS ParaProfessional test.

$15.45/hour

5 hours/week (Tuesday & Thursday 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist lead ESL teachers in devising ESL programs according to each student's individual learning capability Instructs students individually or in groups with lesson assignments Gather teaching materials appropriate to the type of lesson and distribute them amongst students Assist students in grasping concepts of the English language Supervise students during lessons and activities Maintains various records for the purpose of compliance with ESL program requirements, including attendance and follow-ups Promote students' self-esteem through positive encouragement Teach citizenship, social skills, and respect in accordance with the language Translates verbal and written communication(s) for the purpose of assisting students, teachers and staff in communicating effectively Assist with registration and administer

testing of students as needed. Assist with follow-up tracking requirements as mandated by MAERS and state reporting agencies
