Helps students to learn English or gain a high school diploma or equivalent certificate. May focus on basic skills as needed for a particular occupation, or assist students with developing study skills or job search skills, or help students connect with social services.

Job Description

Adult Basic Ed Literacy Assistant•

Data Support Location:

Brooklyn Center Adult Learning Center Part-Time 10 months/ 91 days / 6.5 hrs day

Schedule:

Tuesdays, 8:30am

1:00pm; Thursdays 8:30am
1:00pm AND 5:00pm
9:00pm

Duties:

Provide support for adults learning English as a Second Language through Distance Learning platforms (DL) and digital skills instruction. Responsibilities include managing accounts for DL platforms, orienting students to DL platforms, monitoring students on DL platforms, and tracking attendance hours for DL learning. Manage device rental program for online students, track inventory for student and staff devices. Conduct ongoing assessments as needed; attend staff meetings and collaborate with other staff and volunteers. Explore new DL platforms, advise staff on use of DL platforms, and integrate DL platforms into classroom learning,

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible and function well in an environment that is busy and features an ethnically and culturally diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree preferred. Experience with ESL learners preferred. Experience working with adults in an ABE/ESL academic program preferred. High comfort level in using technology (including excel/google sheets) preferred. Bilingual skills a plus.

Rate of pay:
