LOCATION

Career & Technical Education-Adult Health Careers Program @925B Watervliet-Shaker Road

SCHEDULE

Monday through Friday @ 8:00AM - 2:30PM BASIC

FUNCTION

To instruct students in the theory, proper practices, procedures and skills associated with the Practical Nursing Program and other Health Careers programs. To teach theoretical knowledge in the classroom in such a way that it transfers to practical application during the clinical experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for developing and evaluating student progress, teaching safe work habits and protocols and stressing the importance of reliability, competence, loyalty and dependability. 2. Responsible for supervising and evaluating student progress based on defined classroom curriculum. 3. Prepare students for their clinical experiences that they will have in various health care/nursing facilities as part of the Practical Nurse program. 4. Implement differential teaching strategies related to classroom-based curriculum. 5. Participates in ongoing professional development. 6. All other duties assigned by the Director of Health Careers & Services. Job Qualifications A. New York State Registered Nurse License B. Master's degree in nursing or Bachelor's degree in nursing while actively enrolled in Master's degree program in nursing C. CPR certified in BLS with expectation of maintaining certification throughout employment D. Experience in medical/surgical and geriatric nursing ideal, but not required E. Experience as a nurse educator preferred but not required. F. Medical clearance (i.e., physical exam completed within the last year, all childhood immunizations, 2 MMR or Titer drawn within the current year, TDAP 1 within the last 10 years, 2 varicella or medical documentation of disease, current flu vaccine, 2 step PPD or QuantiFERON gold with negative chest x-ray, and optional hepatitis B and optional covid vaccines) The selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
