Part-time Hours:
Monday-Friday; 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., as needed
Pay/Salary:
$29.14 /Hour Summary Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the part-time Substitute Instructor for Networking and Cybersecurity delivers high-quality, hands-on instruction to adult and high school students in the absence of the primary instructor. This role ensures class continuity by leading lectures, guiding lab exercises, and maintaining a safe, active learning environment. Topics cover core networking fundamentals, system administration, hardware/software troubleshooting, and entry-level cybersecurity concepts aligned with industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+). What You'll Do :
Responsibilities of the Substitute Networking and Cybersecurity Instructor include, but are not limited to:
Instructional Delivery:
Teach scheduled course modules following established curriculum guides, lab manuals, and lesson plans provided by the lead instructor.
Lab Supervision:
Facilitate hands-on laboratory exercises involving networking hardware (switches, routers), virtual machines (VMware/VirtualBox), active directory, and cybersecurity tools.
Classroom Management:
Maintain professional order, enforce safety protocols, manage student attendance, and uphold institutional policies.
Student Support:
Assist students with technical troubleshooting, concept clarification, and skill assessment during class sessions.
Communication:
Provide detailed feedback and status updates to the lead instructor regarding student progress, covered material, and any classroom issues upon their return.
What We're Looking For :
Preferred Qualifications Education Requirements :
A high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
Certifications:
Active industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
Technical Experience:
2+ years of professional experience in IT support, network administration, or cybersecurity operations.
Teaching Experience:
Prior experience in adult education, career and technical education (CTE), corporate technical training, or tutoring.
Skills:
Strong communication skills, familiarity with virtualized environments, and comfort working with diverse student demographics. Ready to Apply?
