Spokane Community College's (SCC) Corrections Education Department at Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC) seeks qualified and committed candidates for this adjunct position. The division is looking for an energetic, creative instructor who may teach a variety of basic skills content, including GED test preparation (Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA), Mathematical Reasoning, Science and Social Studies), High School+, College Readiness and re-entry curriculum. This position may include a flexible teaching schedule to cover day and/or evening courses. The Corrections Education Department, part of the Extended Learning Division is a vibrant, student-centered department that changes the lives of justice involved individuals, and their families through the power of education at AHCC. The dynamic and cohesive faculty and staff provide stability through demonstrated longevity and dedication to serving students. SCC is a beautiful campus set along the Spokane River and near the urban city center of Spokane. Spokane is a mid-sized city in the inland Pacific Northwest with a high quality of life and quick access to the outdoors. In addition to the 148-acre main campus in Spokane, SCC serves over 10,000 square miles in eastern Washington including educational centers in Colville, Newport, Inchelium, and Republic. SCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares for and instructs, through traditional and/or lab style classroom education modes, classes in the discipline of Adult Basic Education (ABE), GED preparation, Re-Entry, High School+, and/or College and Career Readiness; Assesses, monitors, and documents student performance and advises students in meeting their educational goals; Assignments can include distance education modes of instruction; Proctors CASAS and/or other required assessments; Maintains student records; Communicate expectations and establish clear grading criteria through appropriate instructional means, to include, but not limited to, developing course syllabi, handouts, and materials supporting the instructional process as well as evaluating student progress and providing clear and timely feedback; Completes paperwork required of the Corrections Department to include: enrollments, WABERS, and attendance; Adhere to all Department of Corrections safety protocols and procedures; Collaborate effectively within the Education department and with Department of Corrections staff while maintaining CCS values, goals and objectives; Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions; Complies with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statute and collective bargaining agreements; Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned;

COMPETENCIES
(Minimum Qualifications) : Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution combined with relevant teaching experience. Ability to use a variety of teaching methods including the use of technology for instruction purposes. Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times. A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of CCS. The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system. Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
(Desirable Qualifications) : Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution. Ability to assess adult student learning. Experience teaching adults. Knowledge of a learning management system such as CANVAS. Experience working in a corrections environment. Ability to teach English as a Second Language.

: This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned. CCS reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. Academic employees are represented by the Association of Higher Education (AHE), which is affiliated with NEA and WEA. Membership is optional.
CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
: Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment.
