GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Horticulture LTS will be responsible for planning, teaching, and evaluating student performance in an approved Chapter 74 high school Horticulture program. The successful candidate will be expected to perform those tasks usually associated with the teaching profession in general; be especially responsive to the needs of the students enrolled in Norfolk County Agricultural High School and make a constructive effort to serve the needs of the Norfolk County Agricultural High School as an organization.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
1. Create lesson plans and deliver instruction based on the DESE Horticulture Frameworks 2. Respond to the needs of students, and maintain a positive learning environment. 3. Keep an accurate recording of attendance in every class including study halls, including notation of all tardies and dismissals. 4. Maintain up-to-date and accurate records and reports necessary for the effective management of the school program. 5. Apply a variety of teaching techniques to the delivery of instruction. 6. Participate in the delivery of related student services. 7. Perform other duties as assigned. 8. Prompt reporting for all duty or supervisory assignments. 9. Refer any major discipline problems to the Dean of Students immediately. 10. Long-term substitutes are expected to work well with others in a caring, positive and constructive manner. Substitute teachers can expect to interact at times with students, teachers, school administrators, parents and volunteers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with and knowledge of the following areas: general plant science, ornamental horticulture, greenhouse operations, landscaping, floriculture, arboriculture, turf management, nursery production, or related green industries 2. A two or four year college degree is desirable but not required. A high school diploma is a requirement for this job, along with 4 years of work experience. 3. Dependable in attendance and productivity 4. Demonstrate confidentiality in personnel and student matters. 5. Demonstrate proficiency in properly dealing with problems as they arise. 6. Ability to work independently as well as a team with other staff members. 7. Must possess a valid driver's license.
