OverviewGrades 7 & 8 Science and Grade 7 Homeroom/Religion Teacher Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary Ambler, PA (On-site) Gwynedd-Mercy Academy is a private, Catholic, co-educational academy committed to quality education integrated with Gospel values. Grade Homeroom/Religion Teacher:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Homeroom Religion teacher in a 7th grade classroom
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Engage students in service-learning initiatives and volunteer opportunities
- Science teacher for 7th and 8th Grade & PreK-8th
Grade Greenhouse Director:
- Use varied instructional and assessment strategies to promote creativity and individualized instruction
- Design learning activities to demonstrate the application of science to everyday existence, including scientific research projects, demonstrations, experiments, and laboratory activities
- Instruct students in the proper use and care of scientific equipment, chemicals, and plant and animal life
- Plan, supervise, and guide students in learning from class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, or other experiential activities
- Oversee Gwynedd-Mercy Academy's Greenhouse, PreK-8th Grade greenhouse initiatives, and the production of plants and vegetation
- Support the school's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging
- Help to prepare students for transition into competitive private high schools
- Collaborate with colleagues regarding curriculum planning, instruction, and student support needs in alignment with best practices
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents
- Incorporate technology and the use of hands-on manipulatives into instruction as appropriate
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, in-service days, and committee meetings
- Perform supervisory duties (lunch, recess, bus line, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Desire to work in a Mercy-focused Catholic school environment
- Bachelor's degree in an education-related field, Master's degree preferred
PA Instructional Certificate:
Science (Middle School Science 4-8 or Science 7-12)- Minimum of three years teaching experience
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
