WHO WE ARE
Art Attack is a mother-daughter owned oil painting studio in Burlingame that is celebrating its 32nd year in business. We pride ourselves on curating a warm, inviting environment that puts our students at ease and makes them feel happy to come paint with us each week. See our Instagram @ArtAttack911 for examples of our students' work.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for 1 instructor to join our team that has oil painting experience, and is excited about working with children (ages 7+) and/or teens and adults. Our teachers need to be friendly, kind, encouraging, and capable of inspiring students to push themselves without extinguishing their creativity. This is a great opportunity for any artist who is looking for part time work to supplement their own artistic pursuits. We are considering opening a new figure drawing/painting class, as well as hosting more workshops in different mediums. If you have a specialty you'd like to share, please tell us! But our main focus is finding a strong oil painting instructor. THE GIG The vast majority of our students don't have oil painting experience prior to attending our studio, so instructors must be able to clearly explain the entire process from undercoat to finished painting. This will include a color wheel lesson, and a charcoal study of an apple to discuss values and composition. Every new student's first painting is a 6"x6" oil painting of that same apple to introduce them to the medium, and discuss color mixing. After that, students get to choose what they'd like to paint, and the instructor circulates and gives one-on-one guidance to each student. We have a large number of reference photos saved for students to go through, but it's the instructor's responsibility to help the student choose an image that they will learn from and be successful at. Our classes have a maximum of 10 students (kids & adults) or 14 students (teens), and while we try to secure a teen assistant for every kids class, it's not guaranteed. On Sundays we occasionally have an Arty Party, where participants follow along with an instructor who paints in front of the group, explaining each step as they go. These are 3 hours long and at the end each student takes home a small completed oil painting (10"x10").
THE TIMING
This role will begin in our Winter Semester, which runs November 30
- March 6 (no classes Dec. 13

Our schedule mirrors the local school schedules, so we close for all major holidays, including 2-3 weeks over Christmas/New Years, end of May, and end of August into September.
