Art Instructor for Kids Ages 6-12 Studio H, LLC Fort Collins, CO Job Details Part-time From $17 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Teaching arts Experience working with children Bachelor's degree Working with students Fine Arts Full Job Description Compensation $17.00 an hour to start during paid training. Promotion to Art Instructor and pay increase based on previous experience, comprehension of training program, demonstrated progression and value in a perceptive and supportive role during the training process period. Optional bonus and retention incentive program available, if qualified. Work schedule Training part-time Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 2 hours per day 4:30-6:30pm. Permanent schedule after completion of training. Monday-Friday 4:30-6:30pm with optional other days and times for homeschool and or weekend classes or special events. Job Summary The Art Instructor will be responsible for learning the studio's teaching methodologies and following company guidelines; utilizing skills that will encourage and allow students to develop their own style and freely express themselves creatively through art. Essential Functions
  • Art Instructor for small groups of students in a classroom setting and managing activities and art projects based on established curriculum.
  • Guide students ages 6 to 12 through progressive fine art programs in a wide variety of mediums.
  • Encourage students to develop their personal styles and feeling free to express themselves through their chosen medium of art while celebrating their individuality.
  • Introduce techniques and procedures for drawing, sketching, watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting.
  • Verbally and physically demonstrate each technique and guide students through the process of understanding the techniques for each medium.
  • Keep a positive encouraging outlook while expanding each student's talents.
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of art tools and equipment.
  • Assist with birthday parties; Provide instruction for chosen art project and clay molding, set up, breakdown, clean up, and lead basic party progression.
  • Communicate with management, students, and parents on a regular basis.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student's information.
  • Understand and exemplify the studio's philosophy, integrity, standards, and objectives.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and studio.
  • Organize storage and cabinet areas, and control use of materials, equipment, art tools, and art supplies to prevent loss or abuse.
  • Take inventory of art supplies and communicate any quantities that are low in stock.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in various art mediums (pencil, pastel, pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic, oil, etc.)
  • Experience in drawing, sketching, and painting using shading, highlights, and color blending.
  • BA in Art or equivalent experience preferred. Current art students are welcome.
  • Experience teaching, previous leadership or mentoring role a plus.
  • Comfortable and patient instructing children, teens, adults, and seniors at all skill levels (specifically ages 6-12)
  • Confident in helping students feel free to express themselves through art.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
  • Strong integrity, morals, ethics, effective class management and operational skills.
  • Will work under the direction and guidance of an Art Instructor. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Move and traverse about inside the studio to each student's station and to access file cabinets, bins, and drawers.
  • Constantly positions self to descend down to sit on art benches and chairs and ascend back to a standing position in order to work on teacher's artwork on the art board and observe student's artwork on their art board.
  • Use brushes and art tools in short intervals to complete artwork on the art board.
  • Communicate and converse constantly with students in order to provide positive feedback and guide them in various techniques and methods of artwork.
  • Observe students' artwork on their art board in a close distance identifying details and determining the performance, implementation, and understanding of the techniques and methods used.
  • Occasionally move, transport, or set up art benches, stools, chairs, art easels and tables weighing up to 25 pounds across the room.
  • Exposure to an office environment with heating and air conditioning.
