3:30-4:30 PM 5 - 7 Grades Position Overview City of Madison is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Painting & Drawing Instructor to lead after-school art classes for elementary-aged students. The instructor will guide students in exploring artistic techniques, improving fine motor skills, building confidence, and expressing creativity through structured art lessons. This role requires a positive, engaging teaching style and the ability to manage small groups across these age ranges. Key Responsibilities Lead weekly Painting & Drawing classes for 5 to 7 grade groups. Develop age-appropriate art lessons focusing on drawing, painting, color theory, and creative expression. Prepare materials, set up the classroom, and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and individualized support to students. Encourage creativity while ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Manage classroom behavior and maintain positive communication with on-site staff. Track attendance and report updates or concerns to program coordinators. Qualifications Experience teaching or working with children in an educational or recreational setting. Strong background in visual arts, including painting, drawing, and basic art techniques. Ability to adapt lessons for multiple age groups and skill levels. Excellent classroom management and communication skills. Reliable, punctual, and professional work ethic. Schedule & Compensation Part-time, seasonal position Thursdays only, 1class block Compensation discussed during the hiring process
