ART INSTRUCTOR

Associate Dean of General Education SALARY:

Targeted salary is paid in lump sum based on contact hours

RESPONSIBILITIES
Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned:
  • Provides professional instruction based on approved course syllabus. Ensures that desired course outcomes meet the stated objectives;
  • Prepares curriculum and syllabus for coursework taught;
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Administers and grades class examinations;
  • Maintains records of student grades;
  • Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training areas;
  • Meets ALL required deadlines assigned by Supervisor;
  • Meets with students, staff members, supervisors as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Art or master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Art and appropriate semester hours in specific course content from a regionally accredited college or university. Must work well in the classroom and in supervising diverse students in a variety of settings.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials Knowledge of vocational area of assignment Skill in presenting subject matter Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners Oral and written communication skills Knowledge of student information systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

(in addition to minimum and competencies): Experience teaching in a postsecondary environment; Experience teaching via online instruction; Bilingual is a plus. This position is available at all Lanier Tech campus locations; day and evening classes available.

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment that are appointed on a per-academic term basis.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies.
