Ceramics Instructor Description:
Firebox Pottery Studio is hiring part-time ceramics instructors for its opening team in Belmont, Massachusetts. Hiring and onboarding will begin in September-October 2026. Firebox is a new 3,800-square-footmunity ceramics studio located approximately five minutes from the Waverleymuter rail station. Instructors teach structured, multi-week courses in wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing, and surface decoration. Classes are intentionally small—generally 6 to 10 students—allowing instructors to provide individual guidance while building a weing classroommunity. Each weekly section includes three paid hours: 2.5 hours of classroom instruction and 30 minutes of preparation and studio-reset time. Students clean their own wheels, tools, and workstations; instructors guide the process and leave the classroom ready for its next use. Routine studio cleaning and technical operations are handled separately. Instructors are hired as Instructor I, Instructor II, or Lead Instructor based on teaching ability, technical independence, course responsibility, and leadership experience. Instructor II and Lead Instructors may teach multiple cohorts of approved courses. Additionalpensation is provided when a section enrolls more than eight students. This is a part-time W-2 position. Schedules may include weekday daytime, evening, or weekend sections. Compensation is $35-$49 per hour, depending on teaching ability, technical independence, course responsibility, and leadership experience, with additional enrollment-basedpensation. Candidates for Instructor II or Lead Instructor should demonstrate the ability to teach independently, adapt curriculum and pacing, resolve routine technical problems, and take responsibility for the quality of a course or program.
