K-5 Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher (0.5 FTE) who inspires students to explore, create, and express themselves through visual arts. This position offers the potential to add additional FTE depending on the candidates qualifications and interest. At Matoska, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we believe in developing curious, reflective, and globally minded learners. The ideal candidate will embrace inquiry-based learning and use art as a powerful tool for student voice,and creative expression. Key Responsibilities Design and deliver engaging visual arts instruction that encourages creativity, exploration, and skill development across a variety of media and techniques. Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe to take creative risks and express their ideas. Support the IB philosophy by integrating inquiry-based practices and encouraging students to make connections across disciplines. Develop students' understanding of artistic concepts, techniques, and vocabulary aligned with district and state standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners and support individual artistic growth. Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and the IB framework. Showcase student artwork through displays, exhibitions, and community events. Participate in professional development and contribute to a collaborative school culture. Qualifications Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Art Education (or ability to obtain one). Strong knowledge of artistic techniques, media, and art history. Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching at the elementary level. Experience with IB, inquiry-based learning, or concept-driven instruction. Why Join Matoska?
