JOB DESCRIPTION
The Meadowlands Area YMCA is a rapidly growing and progressive Association that is looking for individuals who can positively contribute to our team. Located in Bergen County, New Jersey we are in the shadows of the Meadowlands Sports Complex (home to the NY Giants, NY Jets and the 2014 Super Bowl) and right outside of New York City. It is an exciting time in our 96 year history - our YMCA is developing an 83,000 square feet building into our first full facility
YMCA. POSITION SUMMARY
: The Meadowlands Area YMCA is seeking qualified individuals who will be responsible for teaching our Art classes including but not limited to photography, painting, cartoons, and mixed media. The Art Instructor will also be responsible for classroom management
QUALIFICATIONS
: 21+ years of age CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse prevention training within 90 days of hire Proven experience teaching at least one specialty topic including but not limited to; painting, pottery, mixed media, drawing At least 1 year experience teaching art classes Outgoing, energetic, and engaging
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Keep classroom in same condition as you found it. Ensure the health, safety, and well being of participants in enrichment programs, by providing close supervision of all activities. Be in assigned area with all equipment, when needed. Create an atmosphere where all participants can have fun, are safe and learn. Maintain accurate program documentation (incident, accident and behavior reports, attendance and sign-in / sign-out sheets). Keep immediate supervisor informed of any concerns or problems regarding program participants or facilities. Maintain an organized work space, by taking responsibility for the upkeep of supplies, materials, and program rooms. Regularly communicate with Assistant Program Director to discuss lesson plans and activities, to ensure a good working relationship. Communicate to caregivers to promote an understanding of the growth and development of their child. Work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments. Actively participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events. All other miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
