GENERAL PURPOSE
The Teacher will implement the Burrillville School curriculum; create a flexible and conducive learning environment that supports student achievement, personal growth, development of social skills, knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for middle level grades based on each student's ability, and to establish positive relationships with parents and colleagues.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' individual needs. 2. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences. 3. Evaluates students' academic growth, maintains appropriate data/records, and prepares progress reports and report cards. 4. Follows district curriculum with fidelity meeting the timelines defined in the curriculum. 5. Makes every effort to move students toward proficiency by providing multiple opportunities to learn. 6. Effectively communicates with parents through conferences and/or other means to discuss students' progress and interpret the school curriculum/expectations. 7. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities and by embracing professional growth activities. 8. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with the guidelines. 9. Participates in curriculum development programs as required. 10. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state testing program. 11. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aides and maintains accurate inventory records. 12. Participates on faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree in Education 2. Rhode Island or equivalent teaching certificate 3. Experience preferred but not necessary for hiring
