Fine Art Teacher American Academy of Fine Arts Bellevue, WA Job Details Part-time | Contract $20 - $30 an hour 13 hours ago Qualifications School experience Bachelor of Fine Arts Fine Arts Visual arts painting Master of Fine Arts Full Job Description Part-Time Fine Art Teacher (K-12) We are seeking a professionally trained Fine Art Teacher who is passionate about both art excellence and meaningful teaching for children . At AAFA, we believe great teaching is not just about making art "fun"—it's about helping every student build real skills, gain confidence, and feel successful through structured artistic growth . This role is ideal for artists who want to make a lasting impact on young learners while continuing to grow in their own artistic journey. Responsibilities Design and deliver structured, skill-based art lessons (drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media) Teach students (ages 5-18) with clear progression in observation, technique, and creativity Help students achieve visible improvement and develop confidence in their artwork Provide specific, constructive feedback tailored to each student's level Create a classroom environment where students feel supported, motivated, and proud of their work Prepare lesson plans and materials in advance (with curriculum support provided) Collaborate with the team to maintain high-quality, consistent programming Qualifications Formal training in Fine Arts (BFA/MFA or equivalent studio training strongly preferred) Strong foundation in academic drawing, painting, or classical/observational techniques Experience teaching children or teens (studio, school, or workshop setting) Ability to break down complex skills into simple, teachable steps Passion for helping students grow, not just complete projects Responsible, organized, and professional in communication Nice to Have Portfolio demonstrating strong technical skill and artistic depth Experience with portfolio preparation (AP Art / competitions) Background in animation, illustration, or design Experience teaching different age groups with differentiated instruction What We Offer Competitive pay: $20-$30/hour Flexible part-time schedule (10-25 hours/week) Structured curriculum + creative freedom Supportive, professional teaching environment Opportunities to exhibit your artwork Free or discounted classes for family members Long-term growth opportunities within the studio
