The teacher will work with individual students and small groups at different programming levels. Courses may include AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, introductory Python, Java, programming fundamentals, and other beginner-level coding courses. The ideal candidate should be able to make programming concepts easy to understand, guide students through hands-on coding projects, and prepare AP students for both school assessments and College Board examinations. Since communication with Chinese-speaking students and parents is an important part of this position, fluency in both English and Chinese is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach private and small-group computer science classes on-site. Provide instruction in AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, Python, Java, and introductory programming. Prepare students for AP exams, school assignments, quizzes, and programming projects. Teach essential concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, functions, classes, algorithms, data structures, and debugging. Demonstrate coding techniques through clear explanations and practical examples. Help students analyze errors, improve their code, and develop independent problem-solving skills. Design structured lessons, coding exercises, homework assignments, and small projects. Adjust lesson content according to each student's experience, academic level, and learning goals. Monitor student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback. Communicate with students and parents in both English and Chinese. Maintain lesson records, attendance information, and student progress reports. Coordinate course plans and schedules with the academic team. Attend staff meetings and complete other teaching-related duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Education, or a related field. Fluency in both English and Chinese is required. Strong proficiency in Java and Python. Familiarity with the AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles curricula. Two or more years of teaching or tutoring experience is preferred. Previous experience preparing students for AP CSA or AP CSP examinations is strongly preferred. Ability to explain programming concepts clearly to students with different levels of experience. Strong coding, debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience developing beginner-friendly coding projects and instructional materials. Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills. Professional, patient, dependable, and comfortable working with teenagers. Availability during after-school hours and/or weekends. Teaching credentials are preferred but not required.

Compensation:

Starting at $40 per hour , with final pay based on education, teaching experience, and course level.
