Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced part-time high school history teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate must be fluent in both English and Chinese and have a strong academic background in history. The teacher may be responsible for teaching courses such as
AP United States History, AP World History:
Modern, AP European History, United States History, World History, AP Human Geography, and AP United States Government and Politics. The ideal candidate should be able to explain complex historical concepts clearly, help students develop critical-thinking and analytical-writing skills, and prepare students effectively for school coursework and AP examinations.
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured history lessons for high school students. Teach private lessons and small-group classes in person and/or online. Prepare students for AP history exams, school assessments, and academic writing assignments. Help students strengthen historical analysis, critical thinking, document interpretation, and essay-writing skills. Adapt lessons to students' different academic levels, learning styles, and educational goals. Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with course objectives. Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback. Communicate professionally with students, parents, and the academic team in both English and Chinese. Maintain a positive, supportive, and engaging classroom environment. Stay current with AP course frameworks, exam formats, scoring guidelines, and instructional practices. Complete other teaching-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in History, Political Science, Education, or a related field. Fluency in both English and Chinese is required. Two or more years of experience teaching history at the high school level is preferred. Prior experience teaching one or more AP history or government courses is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of AP course content, exam requirements, and essay formats, including DBQs, LEQs, and SAQs. Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom-management skills. Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and engage students in meaningful discussions. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. Passion for education and a genuine commitment to helping students achieve academic success.
