Position:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and dependable physics teacher to provide on-site instruction for high school students. This role involves teaching individual students and small groups at different academic levels. Courses may include Physics, Honors Physics, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2,
AP Physics C:
Mechanics, and AP Physics C:
Electricity and Magnetism. The ideal candidate can break down challenging physics concepts, connect mathematical formulas with real-world applications, and help students improve both their classroom performance and AP exam readiness. Because regular communication with Chinese-speaking families is part of this position, proficiency in both English and Chinese is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach private and small-group physics classes on-site. Create organized lessons based on each student's course level and academic goals. Explain physics concepts, formulas, calculations, and problem-solving methods clearly. Support students with school coursework, quizzes, exams, and AP test preparation. Identify students' academic weaknesses and adjust instruction accordingly. Develop practice materials, assignments, and progress assessments. Review student performance and provide clear, helpful feedback. Communicate with students and parents in both English and Chinese. Maintain accurate records of attendance, lesson content, and student progress. Work with the academic team to coordinate schedules and course plans. Attend staff meetings and complete other teaching-related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Physics, Engineering, Science, Education, or a related field. Fluency in both English and Chinese is required. Two or more years of high school teaching or tutoring experience is preferred. AP Physics teaching experience is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of high school physics and AP Physics course content. Solid mathematics and problem-solving skills. Ability to teach students with different learning styles and academic backgrounds. Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills. Professional, patient, responsible, and comfortable working with teenagers. Availability during after-school hours and/or weekends. Teaching credentials are preferred but not required.
Compensation:
Starting at $40 per hour , with final pay based on education, teaching experience, and course level.
