Job Description
Roots y Ramas Forest School, based in the Oakland hills, is looking for a warm, creative, and enthusiastic educator to join our growing forest school community. We're especially seeking someone who loves sharing the Spanish language through songs, stories, games, and everyday play, helping children develop a natural connection with both the language and the world around them. Roots y Ramas is a bilingual (Spanish-English), nature-based early childhood program where children spend their days exploring, discovering, and learning outdoors. Inspired by Forest School principles, Waldorf education and our school values of joy, justice, nature kinship and community. We value child-led play, meaningful relationships, creativity, and a deep respect for nature and her beings. We believe young children learn best when they have the freedom to explore, take age-appropriate risks, follow their curiosity, and build confidence through real experiences.
Current Opening:
Part-Time Forest School Educator of 20h/week.Schedule:
Monday- 4h of meetings and prep time. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 12:00 pm
- 4:00 pm of teaching hours.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications. You'll help create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring outdoor environment for children aged 4-5 years. Working alongside our team, you'll encourage child-led learning, support children's social and emotional development, and inspire curiosity through nature, free play, music, storytelling, and hands-on experiences. A key part of this role is bringing Spanish to life in joyful, engaging, and meaningful ways throughout the day.We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has experience working with young children.
- Speaks Spanish confidently and enjoys sharing the language through play, songs, stories, and conversation.
- Loves spending time outdoors in all seasons.
- Is creative, flexible, and enjoys following children's interests.
- Values play-based, child-centred learning and believes in the importance of connecting children with nature.
