John C. Mead Elementary School (K-5), Ansonia Middle School (6-8) & Ansonia High School (9-12)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English and in the native language of students. Instruction shall be closely related to and coordinated with the regular instruction program. Plan, organize, and provide instruction in verbal and written skills of the native language. Designs lessons that provide opportunity for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real world problems. Establishes and maintains standards for behavior that foster student self-discipline and positive relationships among students. Experienced in administering and analyzing the Las Links Assessment. High capacity in planning personalized instruction in language domains based on student data. Commits to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy. Plans learning activities to address individual differences among students. Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and problem-solving skills. Monitors and evaluates students' progress in relation to district/school curriculum policies and other planned goals and objectives. Encourages, secures and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of instruction. Involves parents in the assessment of their children's progress and needs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Multilingual Learning.

QUALIFICATION

Required certification: Bilingual Elementary (902); Master's degree preferred Three years' successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred Literate in Spanish and English Experience in the use of educational technology Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills Financial compensation will be in accordance with the contract/agreement existing between the Ansonia Board of Education & the Ansonia Federation of Teachers Local 1012.
