Continuous Description Administration of the learning process (teaching) is to be accomplished in accordance with Federal regulation, Florida State Law, and Florida Gateway College Board Policies. The primary responsibility of an Instructor at FGC is to the student in the classroom. All other activities must be considered secondary in importance. The Instructor is expected to allocate time in a manner as to provide scheduled classroom hours and office hours during which the students may have access to the Instructor. Under general supervision, the Adjunct Instructor of Spanish will develop, prepare, and teach a variety of coursework in the Spanish discipline. The Adjunct Instructor must have the flexibility to teach courses during the day, evening, or online, as well as those taught using other distance learning formats. Examples of Duties (

Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction in classroom, laboratory, and online settings to promote student success within a state college environment. Develops and delivers Spanish language instruction that builds student proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural understanding. Uses assessment strategies (traditional and alternate) to assist the continuous development of the learner. Uses effective communication techniques with students and all other stakeholders. Engages in continuous professional quality improvement for self and school. Uses appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking capabilities of students. Uses teaching and learning strategies that reflect each student's culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic background. Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida. Uses an understanding of learning and human development to provide a positive learning environment that supports the intellectual, personal, and social development of all students. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. Creates and maintains positive learning environments in which students are actively engaged in learning, social interaction, cooperative learning, and self-motivation. Plans, implements, and evaluates instruction in a variety of learning environments. Works with various educational professionals and other stakeholders in the continuous improvement of the educational experiences of students. Uses appropriate technology in the teaching and learning process, including the College's learning management system. Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance. Maintains accurate records of attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes in accordance with College policy. Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment. Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information in accordance with applicable state, federal, and college regulations, policies, and procedures, including FERPA. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Ability to present information in a coherent manner and the ability to fairly evaluate student retention of that information. Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish, with the ability to deliver instruction in Spanish across all course levels assigned. Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use a learning management system (e.g., Canvas) for instructional delivery.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Faculty who teach college level courses must hold a Master's degree and have completed 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics, Romance Languages, or Comparative Literature with demonstrated Spanish components.
