Position Summary:
This position involves a long-term substitute teaching position for high school French. The candidate will be teaching various levels of French from level 1 to level 4. This position will be available from October through the end of the school year in May.
Specific Duties Include:
Instructing students in subject content along with reading and grading student written work Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students needs including the implementation of differentiated teaching strategies Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement pre-designed course syllabi and tests/other assessments Other Duties as assigned
Required Skills:
Have a working knowledge and experience teaching all levels of high school French Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, interactive whiteboards, Google Drive, and Learning Management Systems A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such Strong organizational and classroom management skills
Minimum Job Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in French or Foreign Language Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master's degree in French or education preferred 2+ years of successful teaching high school French preferred Independent school experience preferred, but not required The Long-term Substitute Teacher, Upper School French position is an exempt, temporary position.
