Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our world languages department. The ideal candidate will foster a vibrant, immersive learning environment that inspires students to develop both linguistic proficiency and cultural appreciation. You will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and encouraging a deep understanding of the Spanish-speaking world.
Key Responsibilities
1. Instruction & Curriculum Design
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, interactive lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and proficiency levels.
Integrate cultural components (history, art, literature, and traditions) from various Spanish-speaking countries into the daily curriculum.
Promote communicative competence by encouraging students to speak, read, write, and listen in the target language.
Utilize a variety of instructional technologies and digital tools to enhance language acquisition.
2. Classroom Management & Student Support
Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture.
Set clear academic and behavioral expectations for all students.
Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, exams, and projects.
Offer extra support or differentiation for students who require accommodation or acceleration.
3. Collaboration & Professional Engagement
Collaborate with fellow world language teachers to align curriculum and share best practices.
Maintain open, professional communication with parents, guardians, and administration regarding student progress.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide events.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Spanish Education, Linguistics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Certification:
Valid state teaching credential/license in World Languages (Spanish) for the appropriate grade level.
Language Proficiency:
Near-native or native fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English.
Experience:
Prior experience teaching Spanish in a middle or high school setting is preferred.
Skills:
Strong classroom management, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with educational technology (e.g., Google Classroom, language learning software).
