Penn High School This position is for the 2026-2027 school year. You must have or be able to obtain an Indiana Teaching license for Spanish (5-12 or 9-12). We prefer someone who has experience with children (student teaching would be considered). The role of a Spanish teacher is to teach courses in this specific language. High School Spanish teachers need to be masters of their language, demonstrating a high proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the language they are are teaching. With these skills, teachers create an environment for students to learn effectively. Spanish teachers usually teach several levels concurrently, from beginning speakers of foreign languages to students who are approaching fluency. Instruction in foreign languages includes vocabulary, grammar, and accent as well as spelling and other mechanics of language. The duties include creating lesson plans, preparing classroom activities, organizing teaching materials, evaluating student performance, maintaining classroom records, meeting with parents, teachers and other professionals.
