  • Part Time Center for New Americans seeks ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers for our level 1-2 and 3-4 evening classes.
Classes meet mostly online but strive for monthly in-person evening meetings. Classes meet Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM September through mid-June. Teachers work 13.5 hours per week which includes teaching, preparation, student follow up, meetings and administrative tasks including attendance data entry. Compensation is in the range of \$27
  • $28.
50 /hour depending on experience.
Successful candidates will:
have a TESOL certificate and/or equivalent degree; have experience o teaching adult ESOL students in a community-based setting; o teaching ESOL online using the Zoom platform; o integrating technology into ESOL instruction o planning lessons which align with DESE (the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education) MA ELPS and following a Scope & Sequence; be open to peer mentoring and close collaboration with other teachers, program advisors, and volunteers; assess and document students\' participation and progress. Center for New Americans is hoping to receive applications from skilled candidates from a variety of backgrounds, particularly in regard to race, culture, and language proficiency. Preference will be given for candidates who bring experience, capacity, and perspective to strengthen the organization\'s capacity to meet its mission.
