Aug 13, 2026 Job Description Tecumseh Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to provide high-quality language instruction and support to multilingual learners. The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to ensure English learners have equitable access to the curriculum while developing their English language proficiency.
General Information/Duties:
Provide direct ESL instruction to eligible English learners in accordance with state and federal requirements. Develop and implement individualized language instruction based on students' English language proficiency levels. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support effective instructional strategies and accommodations for multilingual learners. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of language proficiency, instructional services, and required documentation. Administer or assist with state-approved English language proficiency assessments as required. Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and available supports. Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and other student support meetings as appropriate. Maintain compliance with all district, state, and federal regulations related to English learner programs. Be a team player; working with other members to improve techniques, relations with the community, and school environment Committed to continuous improvement through training and the use of technology. Participate in district-wide professional development Perform other duties consistent within the scope of the position
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree Current & appropriate Michigan certification Demonstrated skills in the use of technology Ability and willingness to work in a team setting Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of the academic, social, and emotional needs of the high school age student is required.
Terms of Employment:
Salary will be provided in accordance with the negotiated collective bargaining agreement and district policies. This is a 0.2 FTE position.
