Inspire, Engage, and Change Lives Adirondack Academy, an alternative education program within HFM BOCES, is seeking a dedicated and innovative Spanish Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an educator who believes in the power of relationships, understands that every student learns differently, and is committed to helping students achieve success both inside and outside the classroom. This position offers the opportunity to work with students who benefit from individualized support, creative instruction, and meaningful connections with caring adults. The ideal candidate will bring fresh, engaging ideas to language instruction and thrive in a challenging yet highly rewarding educational environment. Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Spanish language instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards. Create interactive and culturally relevant learning experiences that promote language acquisition and student engagement. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of diverse learners. Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages student participation, confidence, and growth. Build strong, supportive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and consistent classroom practices. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, administrators, and families to support student success. Monitor student progress and use data to inform instructional decisions. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Bring creativity, energy, and fresh instructional ideas to the classroom. Be dynamic, adaptable, and willing to think outside traditional educational models. Understand the importance of trauma-informed practices and relationship-centered teaching.   • Salary commensurate with experience.
Job Qualifications Valid New York State Certification in Spanish 7-12 (or eligibility for certification). Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills. Knowledge of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma-informed educational practices. Ability to remain patient, flexible, and responsive to student needs. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to supporting students in an alternative education setting. TEACH Clearance Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
