Position Overview Amani Public Charter School is seeking a mission-aligned Foreign Language Teacher to provide instruction in world language acquisition to our middle school students, with a preference for candidates able to teach Spanish. This teacher will foster students' linguistic and cultural competency through engaging, standards-aligned instruction that builds students' confidence as language learners. The ideal candidate is a positive, flexible, organized, and innovative educator who is committed to the belief that all children can learn and to closing the achievement gap. Key Responsibilities Instructional Planning & Delivery Provide direct instruction in Spanish (or other world language) using a variety of engaging, communicative teaching strategies to build listening, speaking, reading, and writing proficiency. Design and deliver standards-aligned lessons and units that build students' language skills progressively across the school year. Incorporate cultural competency and global awareness into lessons, helping students understand and appreciate the cultures connected to the language being studied. Differentiation & Access Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate scaffolds and supports to ensure all students, including those with IEPs and English Language Learners, can access the curriculum. Assessment & Data-Driven Instruction Formally and informally assess student learning, analyze this data to inform instruction, and track student progress toward proficiency benchmarks. Be accountable for students' mastery of academic standards. Classroom Culture & Student Support Implement a variety of behavior management techniques that increase positive student engagement. Create a positive, structured learning environment in which students observe the school's core values, high expectations, and code of conduct. Collaboration Work collaboratively with grade-level teams and the instructional support team to plan, share student work, and ensure instruction is aligned with schoolwide curriculum and standards. Family & Community Engagement Build partnerships with families, encouraging their active participation in students' language learning journey. Communicate effectively and consistently with students, families, and colleagues. Professional Growth Participate in an annual staff orientation and training. Engage fully in ongoing professional development and coaching. Location and Commitments School day is 7:45 AM - 4:00 PM. School year runs from the third week in August through the end of June. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited school required; Master's Degree preferred. Must have valid NYS Teacher Certification in Foreign Language Education (Spanish preferred). At least 2 years of classroom experience preferred. Fluency (spoken and written) in the target language required.
